Protect is established to relieve poverty in the developing world with a particular focus on the issue of child labour. This will be done by increasing awareness of the issues around child labour and its impact on the child and family and carrying out practical activities in the developing world to relieve and improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families.
Founded in July 2013 to support voluntary work by a Claremorris lady in the elimination of child labour in Kitui, Kenya in association with an NGO, Kitui Development Centre. Janet Corbin Hinchion has been working voluntarily in Kitui since 2008 and her work is supported by the local community of Claremorris. Supporters wished to become more involved with the work of Janet in the prevention and elimination of child labour in Kitui and so came about PROTECT.
